Greetings!

A belated Happy New Year to the Tartan Army.

We just thought that as the year kicked off we could update you on a couple of wee projects including Travel for September's matches, the next chart release and the Tartan Army Gathering.

Loch Lomond - A Journey

A Review of Tartan Army's First Hit
Loch Lomond Tartan Army

We've been asked how the single ended up doing... well we're still waiting on the download sales totals but the single shipped more than 25,000 copies and final sales are likely to be over the 30,000 mark.

In addition the live performance on Children in Need was the peak viewing figure and exceeded more than one million viewers. Add to that the YouTube downloads and the website hits and all in all it was worth the effort.

The next project? Well it's well under way and hopefully within the next few weeks we'll be able to reveal more details about the 2008 campaign.

We promise it'll be even bigger and better than Loch Lomond!

Scottish Band Aiming To Follow Tartan Army

Edinburgh Band Looking for Top Forty

Since The Tartan Army became Rock legends we've been watching what's going on in the Scottish musical world - you know watch the competition and our musical peers. We're delighted therefore to see that Edinburgh based Jakil are hoping to become the first unsigned band to hit the Top 40!

Now as chart toppers ourselves we with the Tartan Army can only wish the guys the very best of luck with their single and career - we would however respectfully suggest that we were actually the first unsigned band to chart with Loch Lomond because so far none of us have seen the recording contract dropping through the door! But hey we'll give them the glory. The band are a group of former Balerno High School pupils' in Edinburgh and it reported on the BBC website that the debut single Who Are Ya? is outselling X Factor's Eton Road. We sure hope so guys.

The single, which costs 79p, can be downloaded from the Indie Store site. Go get and help another worthy cause and if you get the chance to see them live you really should take it.

Tartan Army Gathering

For those who attended the first to mark the World Cup in 2006 the Euro 2008 Tartan Army Gathering will be a must.

World Cup Qualifiers

Travel Arrangements Being Finalised

The travel arrangements for the opening two away games of the World Cup campaign are close to launch and we're hoping that the trips are going to offer the Tartan Army something really special.

The logistics are proving somewhat of a challenge but by the end of this month the full packages will be available at the best price possible for both Macedonia and Iceland. Again let us know your preference and we'll keep you up to speed

Ireland vs Scotland

Okay wrong shaped ball but great craic!

Okay so its not quite the same but if you need a fix you could do worse than a trip to Dublin for the 23rd of February match between ireland and Scotland in the Six Nations. We've got the best available rates for The Tartan Army by clicking on the link below. Everything from B&B's to Five star boutique hotels. See you in Temple Bar!

So that's it for just now. As soon as we have more details about the Gathering and the Travel Packages we'll get in touch. All the best for now.

Sincerely,

Don and Bob
